Privacy policy

Effective date: 29 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Templify collects and how we use it, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are
Templify is run by Richard Charles Cloete, a sole proprietor, of 86 Hawthorne Avenue, Waverley, Pretoria, Gauteng. We are the "responsible party" for your personal information. Our Information Officer is Richard Charles Cloete, reachable at templify.za@gmail.com or 068 119 4256.

2. We never see your CV
Our kits are templates and guides you download and fill in on your own phone or computer. Your CV details stay on your device. We don't receive, see or store them.
If you choose to send us your CV when asking for help, we use it only to answer your question and delete it within 30 days.

3. What we do collect
- When you buy: your name, email address, the billing details you enter at checkout, and what you bought. Card and bank details are entered on our payment provider's secure page. We never see or store them.
- When you contact us: your messages, name, email address or phone number.
- When you visit our website: your device and browser type, IP address, the pages you visit, what you do on the site (for example, viewing a product or starting checkout) and how you arrived (for example, from an ad). This is collected with cookies and similar tools from Shopify and Meta (Facebook and Instagram), including the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- If you sign up for emails: your email address and your choice to receive them.

4. Why we use it
- to process your order and deliver your download
- to send your receipt and important messages about your order
- to answer your questions and handle refunds
- to measure and improve our website and ads, including showing our ads to people who visited our website
- to send you job-hunting tips and offers, only if you opted in
- to keep financial records, as tax law requires

5. Do you have to give it to us?
No, it's voluntary. But we need your name and email to sell you a kit and deliver it, so without them we can't complete your order.

6. Our legal basis
We process your information because it's needed to complete your purchase (POPIA section 11(1)(b)), to comply with the law (section 11(1)(c)), with your consent for marketing and cookies where needed (section 11(1)(a)), and for our legitimate interest in running and improving our store and our advertising (section 11(1)(f)).

7. Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We only share it with the service providers who help us run the store, and only what each needs:
- Shopify: runs our online store, checkout, order emails and how-to videos (outside South Africa)
- Stitch Express: processes payments (South Africa)
- PayFast, if offered at checkout: processes payments (South Africa)
- Google (Gmail): our support email (outside South Africa)
- Meta (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram): support chats, and measuring which of our ads lead to sales. To do this, we share website activity and order details with Meta, including your email address or phone number in a scrambled (hashed) form (outside South Africa)
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our legal rights.

8. Information sent outside South Africa
Some of these providers store information outside South Africa. Under POPIA section 72, we only use providers where this is needed to provide our service to you, and who are bound by law or by their terms to protect personal information to a standard substantially similar to POPIA.

9. Marketing
We only send marketing emails, SMSes or WhatsApp messages if you opt in, or if you've bought from us and we're telling you about similar products of ours. Every marketing message includes an easy way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time by emailing templify.za@gmail.com. Order receipts and download emails aren't marketing.
You can also object to us using your website activity for advertising: block cookies in your browser settings, or email us.

10. How long we keep it
- Order and payment records: 5 years, because tax law requires it.
- Support messages: 12 months, then deleted.
- Marketing sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.

11. How we protect it
We use established, secure providers, keep our accounts protected with strong passwords and two-step verification, and only access your information when we need it to help you. If a security breach affects your information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.

12. Your rights
Under POPIA you can:
- ask whether we hold information about you, and for a copy
- ask us to correct or delete it
- object to us using it, including for marketing and advertising
- withdraw consent you gave, at any time
- complain to the Information Regulator
Email templify.za@gmail.com to use any of these rights. We may need to confirm who you are first.
Information Regulator (South Africa): enquiries@inforegulator.org.za, www.inforegulator.org.za (complaint forms are on the website).

13. Children
Our store is for people aged 18 and older. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to buy for you.

14. Changes
We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page, with its effective date.
